Product Focus
The Goa facility will produce state-of-the-art Gas Insulated Switchgear and Clean Air GIS (Blue GIS) technologies. These products are designed to help customers in sectors like data centers, metro rail, oil & gas, steel, and transmission & distribution achieve their sustainability goals.
Sustainability Initiatives
The expanded facility is designed to be carbon neutral and water positive, incorporating sustainable technologies such as photovoltaic solar panels, microgrids, electric vehicle charging stations, battery energy storage systems, and rainwater harvesting. The construction will utilize recycled materials and circular construction techniques, aligning with LEED Gold standards.
Local Collaboration
Siemens is keen to collaborate with local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to strengthen its supply chain ecosystem in Goa. Approximately 45 local companies have expressed interest in becoming supply partners, reflecting the potential for significant local economic impact.
Employment Generation
The expansion is expected to create numerous job opportunities in the region, contributing to the local economy and providing a boost to the manufacturing sector in Goa.
Broader Expansion Plans
In addition to the Goa expansion, Siemens is investing ₹186 crore to build a state-of-the-art metro train manufacturing facility in Aurangabad. This facility aims to address the growing demand for metro rail networks globally and will complement the existing bogie manufacturing facility at the same location.

These investments underscore Siemens' commitment to India's 'Make in India' and 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiatives, emphasizing localization and sustainable manufacturing practices.
